Privacy Policy

Loop ("the app") is a language-learning app you can use without an account. This policy explains what information the app handles.
1. Information that stays on your phone
Your saved words and videos, review history, study time and settings (the language you learn, your level, goal and so on) are stored only on your iPhone and are never sent to our servers. Deleting the app erases them.
2. Anonymous usage counts
To improve the app, it may send counts once a day, such as how many times the app was opened or how many words were saved, with the app version and whether it is an App Store or a test version. The counts carry the same anonymous ID as pronunciation audio (section 5: a random ID created by the app that does not identify you or your device), so we can tell how many people use the app each day and how many come back; our server keeps it only in a one-way scrambled form. It never sends the words or sentences themselves, or anything that could identify you or your device (name, email address, advertising ID, device ID and so on). Turn off "Share anonymous usage counts" in Profile and nothing is sent.
3. Videos
Videos play in YouTube's official embedded player. While a video plays, YouTube (Google) may collect information through the player. See Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) for details.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store. The app never receives your payment information. When a subscription or free trial starts, the Meta SDK reports it for ad measurement (section 7).
5. Pronunciation audio
When you play the pronunciation of a word or phrase, the app sends that word (or phrase) to our server, which creates the audio with Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. The audio is saved on your phone and reused. The only things sent are the word and an anonymous ID used to prevent overuse (a random ID created by the app that does not identify you or your device).
6. Feedback board
In Profile → Feedback you can report bugs, suggest ideas, and vote on and comment on other people's posts (using it is entirely optional).
- What is stored: the title, details and comments you write, the category you choose, the app version, and the date and time. Your name, email address, saved words and study history are not sent.
- Who can see it: posts and comments are shown to other users without a name. Please don't include anything that could identify you. For personal questions, please email us.
- Anonymous ID: to allow one vote per person, let you delete your own posts, limit how many posts can be made per day, and stop posting from a device that breaks the rules, the anonymous ID from section 5 is stored in a form that can't be turned back into the ID. The ID itself is not stored.
- Deleting: you can delete your own posts and comments at any time from the "…" menu.
- Where it's kept: the board's data is stored with Cloudflare, which we use to run our servers.
7. Ad measurement (Meta)
To learn whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram bring people to Loop, the app includes Meta's software development kit (SDK). It tells Meta that the app was installed, that it was opened, which course you chose to start with (English or Spanish), and that a subscription or free trial was started through the App Store (the product and its price, never your payment information). Each report carries technical information such as the device model, iOS version, app version, IP address and an ID created by the SDK. It never includes your saved words, what you watched, your study history or anything you write. Loop doesn't ask for permission to track you and doesn't collect your advertising ID, so Meta handles these reports in its aggregated measurement mode, and installs are attributed with Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork. Meta's handling of this information is covered by Meta's Privacy Policy (https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/).
8. Notifications
Reminders are notifications scheduled on your phone, and only if you allow them. No information is sent for them.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll let you know in the app.
